On 29 April 2026, we organized an online APW session on the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in research and scientific publishing at Tecnocampus (UPF), delivered by Dr. Enric Sayas. The 1.5-hour session brought together researchers interested in understanding how AI can be used effectively and responsibly throughout the research and publication process.

During the session, participants explored the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models (LLMs), learned about the opportunities and limitations of AI, and discussed the ethical considerations associated with its use.

The training also examined the role of AI in scientific publishing from both the researchers' and publishers' perspectives, including how MDPI integrates AI technologies into its editorial workflow. The session concluded with a live Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to discuss practical questions and real-world applications.

By the end of the session, participants had gained a better understanding of current best practices, editorial expectations, and the responsible use of AI, enabling them to make more informed and effective use of these tools while maintaining research integrity.
