MDPI Madrid Editors Salon 2025—Fostering Editorial Dialogue in Spain
MDPI was delighted to host the Madrid Editors Salon 2025, an engaging gathering of academic professionals in the heart of Spain. Supported by the MDPI Barcelona team, the event brought together 30 Editorial Board Members from several leading Madrid institutions, including the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), Universidad de Alcalá (UAH), Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), Hospital Universitario de la Princesa, and Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC).
The Salon provided a unique opportunity to hear directly from MDPI editors, exchange experiences, share ideas, and discuss the evolving landscape of scholarly publishing. It also allowed us to focus specifically on Spain and Spanish researchers, gaining a deeper understanding of their needs and exploring how MDPI can better support them.
The event featured insightful presentations from MDPI experts. Marta Colomer (Public Affairs Lead) spoke about MDPI’s latest achievements and developments, and the key contributions of Spain in MDPI’s publishing initiatives; Enric Sayas (Business Analyst) explored the use of AI in scientific publishing from an editorial perspective, and Clàudia Aunós (Senior Manager of Society Partnerships and Acquisitions) shared how MDPI promotes open science through its services and collaboration opportunities. Their talks sparked lively discussions and offered valuable insights for all attendees.
One of the highlights was the roundtable discussion, where Editorial Board Members engaged in an open exchange with MDPI representatives, who addressed questions, shared insights, and discussed future opportunities for collaboration in Spain.
Interactive sessions further encouraged dialogue on improving editorial workflows, communication, and research integrity, reinforcing MDPI’s commitment to editorial excellence, open access, and a collaborative scientific community.

Moving Forward
We sincerely thank all editors, speakers, and participants who contributed to making the Madrid Editors Salon 2025 a success. Building on the ideas and energy shared in Madrid, we look forward to future gatherings where researchers, editors, and academic leaders can continue to connect, learn, and collaborate. MDPI remains dedicated to supporting editorial excellence, promoting open access, and fostering a vibrant, inclusive global scientific community.
